Promthep Cape is southernmost spot of Phuket Island. Cape has a beautiful view of Andaman Sea and part of Phuket, so this place is often called an observation deck and people come here to meet sunsets. We did exactly same, first time we came here just at sunset and we liked place very much at once, second time we came here already in daytime to look at Promthep Cape in daylight.

But Promthep is not only an observation point, Promthep is much more!

Promthep is also about interesting monuments and sights, stunning views and a short hiking route leading to very nose of cape. panoramic views from this observation deck are not as grand as views you might get from Big Buddha Temple or Karon Kata Lookout, but what you see from Promthepa is undoubtedly worthy of separate attention, these views are brightest, most colorful and one of most picturesque in Phuket.

A visit to Promthep, we, with all confidence, recommend everyone who has chosen for his vacation on Island of Phuket.

Conventionally, Promthep can be called a kind of complex and is divided into two levels, upper, which is a large and ennobled area with its monuments and attractions, and lower, which is essentially giving way to sea cape Promthep.

In front of entrance to observation deck is equipped with free parking, there is a separate area for motorcycles. In stalls and fixed pavilions sell souvenirs, clothing and footwear, beach accessories and beauty products. Prices are at least twice as high as for same goods on Island. Gasoline is sold in glass liquor bottles. Makashnahs offer pan-Asian cuisine, and there are several fruit counters. Price tags in cafes and restaurants are also overpriced.

How to get to Promthep Cape

  • On a moped, on a car, you can do it yourself

In Thailand it is very common to rent mopeds and cars, as well as to move around Islands on them. Renting a bike usually costs 200-300 baht per day, depending on model of bike and its characteristics. Car rental costs from 1000 baht per day. From Patong, Kata, Karon to Cape Promthep is about 20-25 minutes by moped. We rode a moped from our hotel in Patong Phuket Graceland Resort and Spa about 25-30 minutes.

  • By cab or tuk-tuk

You can come to Promthep Cape by tuk-tuk or cab, in which case you better find other people to go with you, as prices will start from 600 baht one way, depending on place from which you go.

  • As part of sightseeing tour

In Phuket you can get to Promthep Cape as part of a sightseeing tour of Island. This option is suitable for those who are afraid to rent a moped or any other transport. disadvantage of this method is that you will be limited in time on cape.

  • On public transport

In this case you have to walk about 2 km.

From Patong, Karon or Kata Beach take a bus -songteo, fare is about 40-50 baht and go to Phuket Town. Then you change to a bus with inscription Phuket – Rawai – Nai Harn. You will need to go all way to Rawai beach and at end of it get off before you reach beach Nai Harn. Then turn left and go in direction of beach Janui. beach is about 1,5 km away. After Yanui Beach turn left up hill and walk another 500 meters. This is ascent to Promthep cape.
