Kaputas is an incredibly beautiful beach in Turkey with clear turquoise water and amazing views. The beach that is lost somewhere between rocks of the Mediterranean coast. I was so excited by photos of Kaputas beach that when planning a trip to Turkey I immediately included it in the list of the country’s most beautiful places and a must-visit. Kaputas doesn’t look like those Turkish beaches my friends sunbathed on and which you can often see on the Internet. I can hardly believe that there are such beautiful natural places in Turkey. Indeed, usually we can find them somewhere far from London, for example, in the Philippines, Bali or in the Caribbean Sea. Yes, Kaputas beach is really very beautiful. It’s not only included in the list of the best Turkish beaches, but often ranks number one.

Kaputas beach is located in the southwestern Turkey on the Mediterranean coast along the D400 highway. It seems to be squeezed by rocks. It is about 200 meters long and 30 meters wide. A few years – about 4-5 – ago, Kaputas was little known to tourists. There were no sunbeds or cafes. Now, you can find both sunbeds and changing stalls, a toilet and even a cafe on the beach. Admission to the beach is free.

How to get to Kaputas beach in Turkey

Kaputas is located 200 kilometers from Antalya and 90 kilometers from Oludeniz and Fethiye. The nearby towns are Kas and Kalkan, which are 20 and 7 kilometers from it. You can get to Kaputas by yourself by a rented car, by bus or with a guided tour.

  • By rented car you should take the D400 highway. It was the most convenient option for us, since we were traveling around Turkey with a small child from Oludeniz. Indeed, it’s a long way. Of course, it’s much more comfortable to travel by car. You can drive and stop wherever you want and not depend on anyone.
  • If you want to take a bus, it’s a good option as well. The bus service in Turkey is very well developed and you can get to Kaputas beach from almost anywhere — from Oludeniz, Fethiye, Kemer, and Antalya.
  • Besides, there have recently been guided tours to Kaputas beach. They include visits to Kas town, Patara and Kidrak beaches. Sometimes, you can also visit Kalkan town. You’ll see all of these in one day. It’s also a good option. Thus, you can visit a few places at once and won’t need to worry about getting there and the places worth visiting. They will take you everywhere and bring you back.

Of course, besides Kaputas beach, we planned a visit to Kas town and Patara beach. We didn’t want to drive so far from the hotel to see one beach only. In fact, our plan for the day included almost the same places as guided tours.

It took us about 1.5 hours to get from Oludeniz to Kaputas beach. We drived along the highway and it’s almost straight, with almost no mountain serpentines. We really liked the views from the car window. We were surrounded by mountains all the time. The highway ran along the coast only when approaching the beach. The beauty was breathtaking – Turkey is a very beautiful country! Then, we saw that we were approaching the beach. We turned our heads, looked down and suddenly saw the magnificent Kaputas beach between the rocks. There are 2 small parking lots at the highway. There will be another larger parking if you drive a little further from the beach towards Kas.

We’ve heard a lot that it’s better not to visit the beach on weekends since it’s most crowded at this time. Tourists, as well as local Turks with children come here to stay for the weekend. That’s why we came here early in the morning on Monday. As a result, we were at the beach at 10 o’clock. But the first parking lot was already almost occupied. Somehow, we managed to find a place. Parking is free. Next to it, there is a police booth for keeping order on this section of the road.

Kaputas beach — our visit and review

At the parking lot at the rocks, you can see the entire Kaputas beach from above. It is these photos that many visitors, including me, find so attractive. The views are really stunning – turquoise coast, light sand, rocks.

Now, you want to be there too, don’t you?  There are even buoys in the sea and a lifeguard’s booth on the beach. We arrived at 10 in the morning, which is quite early, considering that it takes a couple of hours to get to the beach. So, there weren’t many visitors on Monday morning. We really liked it and hurried down to the beach.

There’s a staircase of 192 steps leading to Kaputas beach. But the steps are not high, so we had no problems getting down. Of course, you’ll need to climb it back. But believe me, you can do it

Since we arrived in the morning, the left part of the beach (as one looks at the sea) was naturally shadowed by another cliff. So, we hurried to get settled there. But as the sun rose higher and higher, the shadow quickly crept up to the cliff foot. It was slightly fenced, but only later did we understand why. We were getting closer to the cliff foot. Then, a few more guys came – a large company. They got settled right at the cliff foot. Sometimes, you can hear it from above. So, the whole company quickly left this place, and we hurried to do the same. So, I don’t recommend closely approaching the cliff foot.

But let’s not tell our sad stories. We spent 2 wonderful hours on Kaputas beach before it got really hot around 12 in the afternoon.

We enjoyed swimming in turquoise water. The water is very clean. But the sea at the shore isn’t very calm, and there are waves. But in only 5 meters from the beach, there are no waves anymore. The descent is quite abrupt, so you should be careful with children. And the main thing – the left part of the beach is covered with large pebbles going down to the water. It really hurt to step on it when approaching the sea. But the pebbles are much smaller in the right part of the beach. And there are even sandy spots at the very cliff.

At about 11 am, ships with tourists arrive at Kaputas beach. They spend there about 30 minutes and leave.

They even look nice in the photo. If you want to swim as alone as can be, then you should come early – by 9 or even 8 in the morning. Thus, you’ll be able to enjoy your rest on Kaputas beach to the full. On the beach, you can rent a sunbed and an umbrella.

Around the afternoon, the beach was already 70 percent full. I think if the beach was closer to such cities as Antalya, Kemer, or Fethiye, there would be no room to swing a cat.

You can take beautiful photos at the rocks and enjoy the water crushing around the cliff foot.

The water color is incredibly blue. You can sit and just watch the sea, forgetting about everything in the world. I liked Kaputas beach the most in Turkey. It’s number one in my beach list. I highly recommend visiting it if you have the opportunity.

Kaputas Beach hotels

There is no hotels on Kaputas Beach. If you want to live near Kaputas beach, so I recommend you to look at hotels in the very beautiful town of Kash, which is located 20 km from Kaputas beach. Also you can stay in the city of Kalkan.
