Belcekiz is the main beach of a resort village called Oludeniz. Belcekiz is a public beach, which means that it doesn’t belong to any hotel. Indeed, this has its pros and cons. The pro is that anyone can come to the beach, rent a sunbed, or relax completely for free on their beach towel. The con of the beach is that people are used to staying in Turkish All-inclusive hotels, which have their own beach segment with snacks and free (included in the hotel price) sunbeds and umbrellas. But there are few All-inclusive hotels in Oludeniz. Some hotels even own a part of Belcekiz beach, where you can get free sunbeds and umbrellas from a hotel, for example.
On one side, Belcekiz merges into the Blue Lagoon beach. Kidrak beach is on the other side. Belcekiz is quite a long beach – it is about 1 kilometer long – and is rather wide. So, you don’t feel that the beach is too crowded. They evenly spread all over the long beach. There are even places with absolutely no people. Thus, Belcekiz beach doesn’t look like common beaches, for example, in Antalya, Side, and Kemer. Besides, its another visual aspect doesn’t resemble common Turkish beaches we are used to seeing. Belcekiz beach is part of the Aegean coast and has a different color of the sea. It’s bright turquoise and so blue and transparent at the shore that it feels like you aren’t in Turkey, but at least on the Philippines.
That’s what made me fall in love with Oludeniz when I was choosing a place for our vacation in Turkey. I wanted something non-standard, uncommon, and very beautiful. I liked the Internet photos of the main beach of Oludeniz – Belcekiz – so much from that I kept thinking how great it would be to spend time there, swimming every day on such an exceptionally beautiful beach.
How to get to Belcekiz beach
-
- If you are staying in the lower part of Oludeniz, you should go to the main street of the village and walk along it straight to the sea.
- If you are vacationing in the upper part of Oludeniz, you should take a dolmush that runs to Oludeniz beach; the fare is 3 liras.
- If you are coming from Fethiye or nearby villages, you should take a dolmush that runs to Oludeniz beach. You will be taken to the main stop located right in the middle of the beach. Then, it will be up to you to decide, on which part of the beach you want to stay. You can go back to the place you need from the same stop.
- You can rent a car in Turkey and drive from remote resorts by yourself.
Belcekiz beach facilities
On Belcekiz beach, there are many sunbeds and umbrellas. 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella cost 45 liras rent, and 15 liras per each sunbed or umbrella. Definitely not cheap. On the beach, there is also enough space free from sunbeds, where you can put your towel and umbrella. I recommend buying an umbrella from the locals; it costs about 45-50 liras. When leaving, you can sell it for half price to newcomers. Or find out in advance who of the tourists leave and sell their umbrella. Thus, your visits to the beach will be much cheaper without paying for sunbeds and umbrellas every time. We bought an umbrella and took it everywhere to other beaches – Kaputas, Patara, and Kidrak. We found it very convenient.
On Belcekiz beach, there are special changing stalls, showers, and toilets. There are a few of them with almost no queues.
On the beach, there are no street vendors walking between people and offering to buy something all the time. This is a great advantage. There are no intrusive vendors here, which makes Belcekiz a very pleasant place to relax.
As it may seem from the photos, light white sand smoothly merges into the sea on Belcekiz beach, but this is not the case. The beach is mostly covered by medium and small pebbles. It is it that merges into the sea. The sea bottom is covered with pebbles as well. There is also sand on the beach, but most of it is located near the promenade. Of course, it’s more convenient to wear aquashoes to walk on the pebbles. Or you can wear slippers to approach the sea, take them off on the shore, and wear again after swimming. From this beach, you can take a boat to other beaches for the entire day or buy a trip and go exploring the nearby territories, coming ashore on the islands.
We went to the beach almost every day, but for those days when we drove to other places – to Kaputas beach, Patara, Kidrak, Kas town, abandoned ghost town Kayakey, as well as watched the Butterfly Valley from the cliffs. There’s a promenade area next to the beach, separating the beach from Oludeniz village. It is very pleasant to walk along the evenings, breathing the cool sea air.
Also, 30-50 paragliders keep hovering in the air above Belcekiz beach, flashing their bright paragliders. They are spinning, with some doing acrobatic figures in the air. It’s very interesting to watch them. I feel like flying a paraglider myself. Finally, my wish came true and I had a great flight over Oludeniz with a paraglider with an instructor.
In the photo above, we are hovering right above Belcekiz beach. Unforgettable emotions.

If you take the road towards the mountain and Farelya village, you can find 2 viewpoints overlooking Belcekiz beach and take very beautiful photos.
From here, you can clearly see the entire Belcekiz beach coastline, as well as the entire mountainous area of Oludeniz.
In general, this beach was our favorite, although the famous Blue Lagoon beach was nearby. We liked Belcekiz much more than the lagoon. But each to their own. I wish you to come to Oludeniz and visit the best beaches of this great place.
